Scope and Content

Sydenham is a village to the east of Oxfordshire, not far from Thame. It was a peculiar of Thame until 1846, and indeed was a chapelry of Thame until 1841. In 1973, Sydenham was united with the parishes of Chinnor and Emmington, and they are now themselves united with Aston Rowant and Crowell.

The parish records of Sydenham were all deposited with Oxfordshire Archives in 1985, and assigned the Accession Number 2372, apart from PAR266/1/R3/5, PAR266/1/R5/1 AND PAR266/1/R7/1, which were deposited in 2003 as Acc 5096. An appendix at the end of this catalogue provides a concordance of old and new references.

Recatalogued by Robin Darwall-Smith in July 1996, additions by Mark Priddey, March 2003.
