Much of this collection comprises research papers relating to the history of the Churchill family of Deddington, North Oxfordshire. This family has no direct connection to the Churchills of Blenheim.
The family history and extracted archive resources included here were researched and compiled by Major-General Thomas B.L. Churchill (1907-1990). His father, Alec, started the research process before it was taken on by Tom in the 1910s and added to for the next seven decades, particularly following his retirement from the British Army in 1962. The research cumulated in the publication of the book 'The Churchill Chronicles' in 1986.
The collection includes miscellaneous original documents brought together in the course of the research, arranged into a single sequence by Major Tom Churchill, along with a number of property deeds relating to family land in North Oxfordshire.
These papers were deposited as accession 3094 in 1990 and catalogued by Katherine Kinrade in December 2018.
