Administrative / Biographical History
Dallow Gill Field Centre: Dallow Gill Country Primary School at Laverton in North Yorkshire was a single-roomed school which had been built in 1833 and closed in 1971. The premises were taken over in 1971 by Mexborough Grammar School for use as a field study centre and outdoor annexe. It was also used by a number of other visiting schools.
Dartington Hall Exchange Scheme: a scholar exchange scheme was organised between Mexborough Grammar School and Dartington Hall School, an independent boarding school run on progressive lines located near Totnes in Devon. The scheme developed from a desire for fuller collaboration between maintained schools and the private education sector. Conisbrough Northcliffe High School was also included in the scheme.
