The collection contains material relating to the Struben Parking System, which was designed to solve the increasing problem of traffic and car parking. It was invented by Captain Frank Edward Beattie Struben from Pretoria (c1946), and apparently taken on by Henry Graham Dudley de Chair after Struben's death (described by a letter in the collection, STB/1/1). It was designed particularly for underground construction and involved a vehicle ferry, which would transport the cars to parking bays.
The collection contains six series: [1] Struben System information; [2] Design; [3] Photographs; [4] Letters; [5] Patents; [6] Publications.
