Jane Taylor Edmiston was born in Lesmahagow, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, in 1898 and was a student at the University of Glasgow , Scotland, from 1913-1916 . In her first year she took Latin and Mathematics. In the 1914-1915 session she studied Higher Latin, English and French and in the 1915-1916 session Higher French, Logic and Metaphysics. She graduated MA in June 1916 , later becoming a teacher.
