During the vacancy of the archbishopric, all manner of spiritual jurisdiction devolved upon the dean and chapter of York until the confirmation of the new archbishop. However, many categories of records, such as admissions, nominations, citations, cause papers and parish register transcripts, were not kept separate during a vacancy of the see and a user should consult the Records of Administration, Jurisdiction and Visitation.
