Draft obituary of Frederick William Gibbins. Frederick William Gibbins (1861-1937) was a prominent figure in the South Wales tinplate industry. A native of Neath, he spent the majority of his life in the town. He established the Eagle Tinplate Company Limited in 1890 and had interests in several other tinplate works, such as the Melyn Tinplate Company Limited where he was chairman, as well as being a founder of the Welsh Plate and Sheet Manufacturers Association, of which he was vice-chairman from 1907 to 1910 and chairman from 1910 to 1922. Frederick W Gibbins was involved with a large number of organisations including as chairman of Cimla Hospital, the Glamorganshire Reformatory School and Swansea Hospital, and president of the Neath Nursing Association.
