Scope and Content

Copies of recordings of Royal National Theatre productions made for the National Video Archive of Performance at the Theatre Museum.

These recordings were made using cameras and microphones installed by the Theatre Museum. Recordings using more than one camera were mixed live by a professional video director.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Theatre Museum was a branch of the Victoria and Albert Museum. It opened in 1974 and closed in 2007. The National Video Archive of Performance was set up by the Theatre Museum in 1992.
