The correspondence relates to Ferrar's appointment in Egypt, a post he took up on his return from the British National Antarctic Expedition, 1901-1904 (leader Robert Falcon Scott), the second part of the correspondence relates to Scott's second Antarctic expedition of 1910-1913 and the subsequent publication of the scientific results.
