Scope and Content

The church of St. Alban is in the Cowley area of Oxford. It has always been a chapel of ease to the church of Cowley St. Mary and John (see PAR 76). The first church of St. Alban was built in 1889; the present building was erected in 1933.

The parish records of St. Alban were originally deposited with the Bodleian Library in 1983, before being transferred to Oxfordshire Archives a few years later. A further deposit was made as Acc 6970 in March 2022. An appendix provides a concordance of old and new references.

Recatalogued by Robin Darwall-Smith in December 1996 with additions by Alison Smith in January 2023.
