In the late 1960s, the writer and translator Lucy Norton compiled biographies of Simon Bussy and his daughter Janie, for an unpublished Mellon Foundation Dictionary. Whilst preparing the biographies, Lucy Norton acquired various materials relating to the Bussys and their family. This collection contains correspondence to, or about, Simon Bussy, mainly concerning Philippa Strachey's donation to the Tate of a portrait of her mother painted by Bussy. Other correspondence refers to Bussy's life and exhibitions, and the sculptors Perzinka and Rodin. The collection also includes a menu, private view card, and calendars designed by Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell.
