Administrative / Biographical History

Thomas Thomas (born in Neath c. 1819) traded from 1 Charlesville Place, Neath, as an auctioneer. After his death in 1868 the business was sold to William Harry Rees (born in Swansea c. 1844). In a trade directory of 1891 he was described as auctioneer, accountant, land, estate & house agent, printer, bookbinder, machine ruler & account book manufacturer, agent to the Alliance Fire & Life Insurance Co. & the Crown Accident Insurance Co. The 1881 census adds that he employed 3 men and 2 boys.
