Administrative / Biographical History

Sefydlwyd Capel Annibynnwyr Bethesda gan aelodau a adawodd Capel Annibynnwyr Zoar neu Soar ym 1807, a bu'n cyfarfod cyntaf un yn adeilad a alwyd Philadelphia uwch ben efail gof ar le ddaeth yn safle Salem, yn symud ym 1809 i efail arall rhwng Zoar a'r afon Morlais o'r enw Beth-haran. Adeiladwyd y Bethesda cyntaf ym 1811 ac eto ym 1829 ar Stryd Bethesda. Adeiladwyd y Bethesda olaf ym 1880 ac fe'i ddymchwelwyd yn 2002. Sefydlwyd Ebeneser yn Cefncoedycymer fel cangen o Bethesda ym 1838.

Bethesda Independent Chapel was begun by members who broke away from Zoar or Soar Independent Chapel in 1807, initially meeting at a building which they called Philadelphia above a blacksmith's forge on the site later occupied by Salem, moving 1809 to another forge between Zoar and the river Morlais called Beth-haran. This was replaced by the first Bethesda in 1811 and again in 1829 in Bethesda Street. The final Bethesda was built in 1880 and demolished 2002. Ebeneser, in Cefncoedycymer, was established as a daughter chapel of Bethesda in 1838.
