Scope and Content

The official Victoria University of Manchester publications covered by this collection are: Calendars (UOP/1), Reports of Council to Court (UOP/2), Registers of Graduates (UOP/3), Digests of Statistics(UOP4), staff manuals, accommodation, IT and student guides. There is also a series of publications relating to the Manchester Education Precinct project in the 1960s and 1970s (UOP/9) and brochures produced for the opening of new buildings (UOP/12). UOP/11 is a series of single publications and internally circulated reports, and UOP/16 a miscellaneous collection of reports produced by external consultants and experts. There are also separate series for documents produced for the 1973 charter ((UOP/18), UGC visitations during the 1970s and 1980s (UOP/18) and RAE submissions from the 1980s (UOP/19). This collection excludes any specifically departmental publications.

Administrative / Biographical History

This artificial collection comprises the main official publications of the University of Manchester, namely the Calendars, Reports of Court to Council, annual reports and statements of accounts, Registers of Graduates, staff manuals, student and accommodation guides, commemorative events, University buildings, UGC visitation documents, telephone directories. They are a particularly rich source of information about the governance and organization of the University, its staff and students, and activities in teaching, learning, research, etc.
