Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Neil Gow Ltd, Alloa, Scotland, was a whisky merchants and subsidiary company of James Calder & Co, Alloa. The former became a limited liability company in 1934. The first directors of Neil Gow Ltd were W R Henderson, a brewer's manager , of Little Culdees, Muthill, Perthshire, Scotland, and G W B Campbell, of 33 Queen Street, Edinburgh, Scotland. The memorandum of association indicates that the company were to trade as wine and spirit merchants, distillers, brewers, maltsters, and has a clause which shows an intention to become involved with various other trades, from coopers to farmers. It is unknown whether they did undertake these various trades as very little is known to date regarding the history of the company.
