Parliament, Mostyn Estate and the Improvement Commissioners approved the design on 29th May 1876.
"The pier was designed by James Brunlees, in collaboration with the engineer Charles McKerrow, and was built by the contractor John Dixon...between the approval of this design and the completion of the pier in August 1877, the architects Charles Driver and Charles H.
