Scope and Content

This independent shoe retailer was established in Oxford in the 1850s, originally trading in Holywell Street. By the mid-1880s the business was also trading at 23 Cornmarket Street. In an 1895 trade directory it was described as the chief bootmakers in the city. The firm moved to George Street and then, in the mid-1950s, to 12 Broad Street. It was taken over by the Edwards' family in 1972 and continued in business until March 2002.

This collection includes documents for the premises in Broad Street when they were occupied by Shrimpton & Morris, bootmakers. It was donated in April 2014 and given accesion number 6263.
