Scope and Content

Small file of correspondence relating to Rosemary Manning's books for children. The file contains two letters from Patrick Hardy at Longman Young Books referring to 'Dragon's Quest', 'Green Smoke' and 'Dragon in Danger', with a typescript copy of Rosemary Manning's reply to the second letter; one letter from Kaye Webb at Puffin Books referring to 'Arripay' and 'Dragon in the Harbour'; a photocopy of a letter from 'The English Journal' (a magazine produced by a Japanese company) to the permissions department at Penguin Books regarding rights to reproduce an extract from 'Dragon in Danger', with a typescript copy of a letter from Manning to Penguin Books confirming her willingness to grant permission; and two further letters from Penguin Books referring to 'The Dragon's Quest' and 'Green Smoke'. The file also contains a typescript draft of a letter written by Manning, in character as R. Dragon, to the 'Puffineers' (members of the Puffin Club). This letter is undated, but was published in 'Puffin Post', volume 8, number 1, in 1974.
