Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Barry and Cadoxton Burial Board (Glamorgan) was set up in 1887, jointly by the parishes of Cadoxton-juxta-Barry, Merthyr Dyfan, and Barry, Glamorgan. Land was purchased at Merthyr Dyfan for a cemetery, which was opened in November 1889. The Burial Board appears to have been taken over by Barry Urban District Council, but the date at which this happened is unclear. The last recorded meeting of the Board is 20 March 1895, but the minutes of this meeting contain no suggestion that this was the final meeting of the Board.
