Administrative / Biographical History
Jeannie Wharrie McMaster Drummond was born in Glasgow on 03 March 1896. Her father, James Drummond, was a boilermaker. Jeannie attended the University of Glasgow from 1922-1925 , taking classes in Geology and Moral Philosophy in her first year; Logic, Moral Philosophy (Junior Honours) and Social Economics in her second, and History, French, Moral Philosophy and Logic in her third and final year. She was awarded a certificate of merit in Social Economics in 1924 and first class certificates in Geology in 1923 and Moral Philosophy (Ordinary) in 1924. She graduated with an MA in November 1925 and then briefly worked as a teacher in Glasgow until 1927. Jeannie married Robert Grieve Gillespie in October 1926 and died on 4 March 1988.
