Scope and Content

An extensive collection of notes made by Geoffrey Bull, often on the back of correspondence or on scraps of paper. The notes mainly concern the Bible and Bull's interpretation of it, as well as notes taken during classes or used to teach them. The order of the notes therefore often reflects the order of the Bible and the topics covered within the respective books of both testaments. There are also many pamphlets and leaflets about talks that Bull gave in various locations around the world about his time spent in captivity. Also included are more personal notes and sometimes letters to members of Bull's family describing his failing health in later years and correspondence between his children and grandchildren. Overall the collection details several areas of Bull's life, from his studies to his travels and his family. In terms of structure, the notes within the bundles are usually all related to a particular topic and then sub-divided further into headings. The collection is made up of mainly the New Testament, in particular the gospel of Luke which deals with the ministry of Christ. The Old Testament is present but is not as extensive.

Arrangement

The original order of the notes was roughly divided into chapters of the Bible, spanning chapters from the Old Testament, beginning with Genesis, right through to the chapters of John in the New Testament. This order has been broadly kept, but adapted slightly so that bundles conform to the order of the books of the Bible.
