Administrative / Biographical History
John Hugh Paterson was born in Glasgow on 11 May 1900 . His father John Paterson was a sheet metal worker. John attended the University of Glasgow and the Royal Technical College from 1920-1925 , taking classes in Mathematics, Natural Philosophy, Chemistry, Drawing, Surveying, Chemical Lab and Physical Lab in his first year, Maths II, Engineering III, Electrical Engineering I and Mechanics I in his third, and Junior and Senior Drawing, Engineering III and Engineering IV in his fifth and final year. He spent his second and fourth year at the Royal Technical College . He graduated with a BSc in Engineering in April 1926 and subsequently became a superintendent. John died in Prestwick, Ayrshire on 01 November 1979 .
