Administrative / Biographical History
Ronald James Livesey , fl.1946-1994 began his engineering career as an apprentice at Glenfield & Kennedy Ltd , civil engineers, Kilmarnock, Scotland in 1946 . In 1947, he moved to Babtie, Shaw & Morton, Glasgow, Scotland and worked as an apprentice until becoming a junior assistant in 1951. In November 1951, he left to do his National Service with the Royal Engineers, Guillemont Barracks, Farnborough, England, returning in 1953. He remained with Babtie, Shaw & Morton for the rest of his working life, becoming an Associate in 1973 and Technical Director in 1991 . He retired in 1994.
Ronald Livesey was a member of a number of professional bodies: the Institution of Civil Engineers from 1956, Institution of Water Engineers 1957, Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers 1971 and Fellow of the Institution of Water Engineers & Scientists 1974. In addition, he was awarded both the Miller Prize and the ICE Local Associates Medal in 1956.
