Administrative / Biographical History

Christine Chapman (b. 1956) is a Labour politician who was a member of the National Assembly of Wales for Cynon Valley from 1999-2016. Chapman represented Ynysybwl and Coed y Cwm as a Labour Party member of Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council. She was elected as AM for Cynon Valley in 1999.

In 2005, Chapman was appointed a Deputy Minister in the Welsh Assembly Government, responsible for Education and Lifelong Learning, and Finance, Local Government and Public Services. She stood down in 2016 and was succeeded by Vikki Howells.
