Scope and Content

A companion publication to the set of sample books, explaining their origins, the process of creation and distribution and a description and technical explanation of each of the samples in the 20 volumes of the original set. Also include photographs of Indian people wearing traditional costumes featuring the fabrics. This volume includes a colour copy of the original letter from Forbes Watson to the Mechanics Institution in 1865 arranging delivery of the set, and a set of rules for consultation established by the Board of Governors.
