The industrial activities of Thos W Ward Limited included a shipbreaking yard at Giant's Grave, Briton Ferry, on the river Neath. From its opening in 1906 to closure in 1979, 291 vessels were dismantled there. The works below were published to celebrate anniversaries of the firm. They chart its history and describe its work in boilers, tanks and industrial plant; brick and tile manufacture; cement manufacture; construction and surfacing of roads; foundry supplies; granite quarrying; locomotives, cranes, contractors plant and lifting machinery; machinery; plant for butchering trades; production of bolts, nuts and screws; production of road materials; rails; railway sidings construction and maintenance; railway wagons maintenance and repair; scrap iron and steel; shipbreaking; ships furniture and timber; stick and umbrella handles, and motor car fittings; structural steelwork; supply of coal and coke; works dismantling and industrial properties; wrought iron manufacture.
