Scope and Content

Crowell is located 20 miles south east of Oxford.

These records consist of the ecclesiastical records of Crowell parish, including registers, minutes, accounts, correspondence, plans, photographs, and articles. These were created by successive incumbents, churchwardens and overseers of the poor and relate to both the parishioners and the church itself.

The records were originally deposited in the Bodleian Library by successive churchwardens of Crowell in 1962 and 1979. The material was then transferred to the Oxfordshire History Centre. Further records were deposited as Acc 5098 in February 2003 and as Acc 6028 in September 2011.

The collection was re-catalogued in September 2003 by Talei Rounds, with addition by Alison Smith in September 2011. An appendix gives the concordance of old Bodleian Library catalogue references with the new Oxfordshire Record Office references.
