Minutes, unreserved and reserved, and meeting papers. The first volume also contains minutes from the New Training College Steering Committee, 1959-1961, which was responsible for establishing the College. Until the 1990s the Governors papers mostly comprise minutes, and reports from the rest of the College to the Governors. After this date the minutes are supplemented by copies of the College Newsletter, strategic plans and management reports.

The Governing Body is responsible for the overall governance of the University. Most of the work of the whole College is reported back to the Governors through the University's administrative structure and the network of the Governors' own committees. Each of the Governors' committees sends reports of their activities to meetings of the Governing Body. Likewise reports are received from the Academic Board, the Principal and the Student Union.

The number and purpose of the Governors committees have changed over the years. Many of the later committees, especially those in existence from 1987 onwards, have their own sets of minutes. Prior to 1987 the only record of the committees appears as reports in the Governors minutes. Examples of committees for which there is no separate record are: Standing sub committee, Bar Management committee, Shop committee, Estimates sub committee and Investment sub committee. Other committees such as the Selection committees and the Student Building Management Committee are not Governors committees but send in regular reports to their meetings. Some committees were formed for one particular purpose and were therefore very short lived. These have not been identified.
