Scope and Content

This collection of personal papers of nurse Agnes Boyes includes two pen-and-ink drawings:

A procession of nurses coming out of the chapel at Guy's Hospital, signed H Dickinson and dated 29 Jun 1914.

A nurse playing the piano in a ward, entitled 'Naaman Ward at prayers', signed H Dickinson and dated 1 Jul 1914

It also contains a hand-drawn Christmas card, with a drawing of a Red Cross ambulance and the words 'Xmas Greetings from France' on the front. Inside the card reads 'Aug 1914 - Dec 1917, Millicent Sutherland Ambulance, Namur - Dunkerque - Bourbourg - Calais, A Happy New Year'. Facing the text is an illustration of a soldier patient in a hospital bed, with a broken arm and leg, and the words 'Hope this finds you in the pink as it leaves me at present!'. Boys worked at the Duchess of Sutherland's Hospital in France during the first few years of the First World War.

It also contains a black and white postcard of Dunrobin Castle, from Sister Millicent.
