Scope and Content

Britwell Prior is located about 16 miles south east of Oxford. It was a Chapelry of Newington, both being a peculiar of Monks Risborough (Bucks) until 1846, until it was transferred to Britwell Salome in 1867.

The records were originally deposited in the Bodleian Library by Rev MR Talbot, rector of Britwell Salome in 1981. The material was then transferred to the Oxfordshire Record Office.

A conspectus of new and old references is included at the end of this catalogue. Catalogued by Alison Smith, December 2006.
