The Batt Secondary School was opened in 1930 in premises near Market Square. In 1953 it became a Junior School and still continues as The Batt Church of England Primary School. For School Managers minutes please see S294/1/A1/1. Please see CC4/253 for other records of this school.
The collections also consists of deeds relating to premises and land in Witney and Burford, including The Hill, later Batt House. This house was given to the rector and churchwardens of Witney by the family of Dr Charles Dorrington Batt and from 1930 housed the Batt Central School.
These records were deposited as part of Acc 3140 in September 1990 and also transferred from the Oxfordshire Education Department to the Oxfordshire History Centre. Other records were desposited as Acc 1042 iin September 1972 and originally catalogued as Batt. Recatalogued by Alison Smith in June 2013 and November 2020 with additions by Sophie-Elise Anker in July 2015.
