Prior to the Municipal Corporations Act of 1835, the mayor was the coroner for the borough and soke of Doncaster, and the coroners papers for the years c1625 to 1700 can be found within the borough records (AB.5/4/1). Abstracts of inquests (8 items) for the period 1859-1862 are also held under the reference CR/MARR/1.
