Scope and Content

Papers of the Herrick family of Leicestershire, consisting of family letters, and official business and estate papers. Most of the papers are of Sir William Herrick.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Herrick family of Leicestershire included Sir William Herrick (1562-1653), who was a goldsmith and moneylender, and one of the four Tellers of the Exchequer of Receipt, 1616-23.

Acquisition Information

The papers were bought from Hofmann and Freeman, with the aid of a grant from the fund administered by the Victoria and Albert Museum, in 1968.
