Administrative / Biographical History
The Herrick family of Leicestershire included Sir William Herrick (1562-1653), who was a goldsmith and moneylender, and one of the four Tellers of the Exchequer of Receipt, 1616-23.

Acquisition Information
The papers were bought from Hofmann and Freeman, with the aid of a grant from the fund administered by the Victoria and Albert Museum, in 1968.
