A volume in the hand of W. J. Copleston containing transcripts of, or extracts from, over sixty letters to Edward Copleston from various correspondents, 1814-1828, and from Edward Copleston, 1819-1828, mostly addressed to his father, relating mainly to Copleston's appointments as provost of Oriel College, Oxford, and as bishop of Llandaf. Correspondents include Lord Dudley (11) 1814-1827, Lord Grenville (3) 1814-1827, Sir Robert Peel (1) 1828 and Lord Liverpool (1) 1826. Originals of some have been published in W. J. Copleston, Memoir of Edward Copleston (London, 1851). Most of the letters from Lord Dudley have been published in Letters of the Earl of Dudley to the Bishop of Llandaff ed. Edward Copleston (London, 1840). Also included is a draft biography of Edward Copleston (ff. 71-90 verso inverted text), presumably compiled by W. J. Copleston in preparation for the Memoir.
