Administrative / Biographical History

The Central School, one of fifteen established across the county of Caernarfonshire, was set up in 1926, occupying the site of the old Conway College. Until 1931 the Central School consisted of a Junior and a Senior Department. Following re-organisation under the Haddow Scheme, Junior pupils were transferred to the Conway N P Schools, whilst Senior pupils from the N P Schools moved to the Central School.

In 1946 the LEA adopted the articles of the 1944 Education Act and the school became a Secondary Modern.
