Policy Book Fire Business, 1917-1924; Order Book Fire Business, 1924-1948; Renewal Register Fire Business, 1924-1944. The areas of the Rhondda and Pontypridd in particular are identified in these records. However the records do not indicate the location of the office responsible for the administration of the business.

Administrative / Biographical History

The company was established as the Phoenix Fire Office in 1782 and was renamed the Phoenix Assurance Company Limited in 1901. It was involved in the provision of fire insurance cover in south Wales.

Custodial History

The records were passed to the Pontypridd Historical Centre by an unidentified source possibly the local authority when it was clearing office space. The Centre subsequently transferred the records to Glamorgan Archives June 2013.
