The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) is the prime source of expertise in the Building Services industry. Their Heritage Group archive comprises 43 boxfiles of catalogues, booklets, leaflets, magazines, photographs and reprints of technical papers relating to heritage building services. These include documents relating to HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), fire, lighting, plumbing, building services companies and contractors, and documents from and relating to the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the Building Services Research and Information Association (BSRIA), Carrier, the Institution of Heating and Ventilating Engineers (IHVE), Electricity Council, Drake and Scull, Colt, Haden, Honeywell, Phipson, Sulzer and Trane. It is accompanied by a book collection comprising some seven metres of books relating to heritage building services. A complete list of books held, created by Mr Brian Roberts, is available.

The CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) Heritage Group (www.cibse.org/Networks/Groups/Heritage) was established in 1973 with the main purpose of discovering and recording all aspects of building engineering services history. Catalogue records converted from a handlist prepared by Mr Brian Roberts.
