Administrative / Biographical History
The first lifeboat was established in Ferryside in 1835 when Carmarthen was a thriving port and shipbuilding centre. The first lifeboat was damaged in 1844 and was not repaired, the service was re-established with a new boat and boathouse in 1859 and continued until the station closed in 1960.
