Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Joseph Currie Robertson appears in some of the photographs as a youngster. Later in life he either started or inherited a cotton spinning (or weaving) business in Bridgeton. He was born about 1855, married in 1874 and died in October 1918 . The business bore the Robertson name. Joseph Robertson was also prominent in Glasgow affairs and was councillor for a number of year. The business did not survive his death in 1918. He had four children of whom only one had issue - a son killed in 1904 and two daughters - one of whom (Margaret) is the wife of Sir Robin MacLellan, the donor of the collection.
