Pentre Mawr lies in the parish of Abergele, Denbighshire. It was acquired at the turn of the nineteenth century by Rowland Jones of Chester from the Williams family. The estate then passed to his son John Jones of Lincolns Inn and menmber of teh firm Jones and Bateman. His heir was John Jones Bateman.
