Scope and Content

Bound volume labelled "Chartulary, A & W Thomson." Predominantly of charters and title deeds created by James Thomson (1756-1814) and then his sons, Alexander and William Thomson of A & W Thomson & Co. The volume includes copies of deeds concerning land in Leith, copies of contracts between the Thomson family and the Alloa Thomsons and Mitchells who helped finance the early Thomson shipping business, and also marriage contracts for the marriages of both Alexander and William Thomson. The volume is page-numbered from 1 to 526 and at the back of the voume there is an index of deeds copied into the chartulary.
