Administrative / Biographical History
Helen Dobson Burns was born in 1917 in Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, England. She matriculated into the medical faculty at the University of Glasgow , Scotland, in 1934 . In her first year she studied Chemistry and Botany. She studied Anatomy and Physiology in her second year. Her third year subjects were Surgery, Pathology, and Materia Medica. In her fourth year she studied Medicine, Practice of Medicine, Medical Jurisprudence, Public Health, and Operational Surgery. Her final year consisted of Gynaecology, Midwifery, Sick Children, Clinical Medicine, and Surgery. She graduated MB ChB in 1939 .
