Countryside Strategy document, 1997; Countryside Strategy progress reports 2000-2002; Countryside Strategy newsletters 1-7 and 9, 1996-2005

The Countryside and Environment Section of RCT Planning Department produced a Countryside Strategy in August 1997, after a public consultation which began in the autumn of 1996. Newsletters were produced as part of the original consultation process, and continued as a means of keeping the public informed of progress on implementing the strategy and obtaining feedback. Following changes to the council's departmental structure in 2000, responsibility for the countryside strategy passed to the Parks and Countryside Section of the Environment and Highways Division of the Environmental Services Directorate.
