George Lerry (1893-1971) was a native of Oswestry, Shropshire. He was the first editor of the Wrexham Leader from 1920-1948. He wrote a number of articles on historical topics about the Wrexham area. He was active in local, national and international eisteddfodau, and Wrexham Football Club, and was a Freemason. He also collected papers of the Schreiber family of Tottenham, Middlesex.
