Administrative / Biographical History

Over the years the Royal College of Midwives (formally known as the Midwives Institute) has formed a number of different working and joint committees, often in coordination with other external bodies. The meetings of these working and joint committees are called on an ad hoc basis in order to accomplish a certain task or solve particular problems affecting the midwifery profession.

The original order of material is retained, although where this is not possible the arrangement of files has been based on the functions and activities of the organisation as well as chronology, subject and the needs of users.
