Scope and Content

Swyncombe is a small parish to the south east of the county of Oxfordshire. In 1973 part of the parish of Pishill was annexed to Swyncombe and in 1985 Swyncombe and Britwell Salome were united. In so doing the areas of the parishes of Swyncombe, Watlington, Nettlebed, Bix with Pishill, Ewelme and Turville were altered. The parish now forms part of the Icknield Benefice.

The records were deposited in various stages; the first one in 1948 by the churchwarden, then in 1979 and 1980 when they were housed in the Bodleian Library. The records were then transferred to the Oxfordshire History Centre. Further deposits were made as Acc 3806 in April 1994, Acc 4150 in September 1996 and Acc 6336 in November 2014.

Recatalogued by Jeanette Grisold and Robin Darwall-Smith in September 1996 with additions by Alison Smith in March 2015.
