Administrative / Biographical History

This United States sealing voyage was one of several to visit the waters around Iles Kerguelen during these years. Captained by Elijah Coffin the Asia sailed from Nantucket visiting Cape Town, Madagascar, Mauritius, Ile Saint-Paul and Australia. A second vessel the Alliance was captained by Bartlett Coffin
