Administrative / Biographical History
The British Naval Voyage, 1879-1880 (leader James Wylie East) visited Tristan da Cunha, to deliver presents sent by the President of the United States in recognition of services rendered by the islanders in connection with the rescue of the crew of the collier Mabel Clark in 1878. Comus also went in search of the missing vessel Knowsley Hall, visiting Iles Crozet, Iles Kerguelen, Ile Saint-Paul and Ile Amsterdam.
