Joseph Jones led an active public life: he was a Governor of the University College of Bangor, a J.P., a County Alderman for Denbighshire, Vice-President of the West Denbighshire Liberal Association, a member of the Joint Police Committee, a member of Conway R.D.C. and the Conway Board of Guardians, a member of Llysfaen Charity Commissioners, an Overseer of the Poor for pa. Llysfaen, governor of Abergele County School etc. He was also a devoted Wesleyan, and a member of the Abergele Lodge of the Ancient Order of Foresters. He married Priscilla Williams in 1900, and died aged 56.
